How to Create a Patio Space with Personality

How to Create a Patio Space with Personality

There are many things that make summer the best time of the year. Charles Bowden said, “summertime is always the best of what might be.” Summer means popsicles and bonfires; it brings parades and vacations. But there is one place of oasis that you could be overlooking this season: your patio.

There are many opportunities for you to spruce up your outdoor living spaces. All that’s required is a little effort and some imagination. Here are five simple ideas for upgrading your patio:

  1. Add an outdoor rug. This will make the space feel more cozy and more like a room. Plus this is an easy way to bring in a color or a pattern to your space.
  2. If you only have a concrete paver or slab patio, try adding some brick around the perimeter. If you have a deck, try integrating some brick into the landscaping. The warm reds will look great against the green of your plants. Found brick will add an interest element and make your space more personal.
  3. Flowers! While this is the most obvious addition to upgrading a patio, it’s not one to be overlooked. The vibrant colors will add to the space tremendously.
  4. Fabrics are important too. Textiles make it easy to improve an outdoor patio. They allow for new colors and textures to be added to the palette.
  5. Another important thing to consider when revamping your patio space are level changes. Plant a tall hedge and layer it next to a medium sized one and some short flowers. Put some planted pots up on pavers and some on the ground.

This summer you deserve to relax and soak up the sun. Make a space for you do just that. Making over your patio space is a weekend project you won’t regret!
