Trending Out & What to Do Instead

Pops of color

Three things trending out:

1- Matching sets

2- Inconsistency

3- Millennial grey

What we recommend instead:

1- Mix materials & Mix styles (but still coordinated)

Here are some examples:

  • In your bedroom, instead of a matching set choose nightstands that are different but still coordinate with your dresser. Pick items that coordinate well but don’t match, or maybe you mix up the finish and with two complimentary color tones.
  • For your living room, you want to incorporate a sofa with a different style of chairs. You can mix up the textures and colors as well. Maybe it’s a neutral sofa and you bring in leather chairs, or maybe the chairs have a pop of contrasting color or pattern. Have fun with it! Layering different colors, textures, and pattern adds so much to a space.

2- Cohesive Style

Here are some ways to keep the style of your home cohesive throughout:

  • Use one type of flooring throughout your home or the main living space.
  • While you don't want your rooms to all be the same, make sure the style flows throughout the home. Coordinating the color palette throughout the home is a big way to do this. You don't want spaces to stick out like a sore thumb.

3- Warmer Tones

‘Millennial grey’ and other cool tones are making their way out. But what should you use for a neutral base now? We recommend using color tones in the greige, beige, taupe in the neutral family. (We still love our pops of color with our neutrals though!)
